2015 年 11 月 6 日，加利福尼亚，阿纳海姆——拿起你的火把，带上你的探险帽，一起来冒险吧！暴雪娱乐于暴雪嘉年华®当天正式揭晓了《炉石传说》全新冒险模式——“探险者协会”，召集艾泽拉斯最最勇敢的冒险者们踏上寻找远古神器的奇幻之旅。不同于以往的冒险模式，除了邪恶奸诈的首领之外，还有很多致命的机关陷阱等待玩家去克服。希望你不会很讨厌蛇……
“在这部最新的冒险模式中，玩家将会在魔兽世界几个经典场景来一次故地重游，”暴雪娱乐首席执行官兼联合创始人Mike Morhaime如是说：“我相信玩家可以藉此冒险模式度过一个非常美好的时光，当然还有那些非常棒的全新卡牌哟。”
“探险者协会”共有四个主要人物——伊莉斯·逐星，雷诺·杰克逊，芬利·莫格顿爵士和布莱恩·铜须。玩家将追随他们的脚步，在充满异国情调的场景中寻找古老的神器。本作的四个主要场景分别为：奥西斯神庙，奥达曼，废墟之城和探险者大厅，探险者不但要直面深藏其中的邪恶首领，还要小心应对那些机关陷阱。躲过骇人的巨石，避过致命的毒刺，凡是能完成目标并全身而退的探险者，都会被奖励总计45张以“探险者协会”为主题的全新卡牌。
自北京时间11月13日开始，中国玩家可在Windows®电脑，Windows、iOS和安卓平板，以及iOS和安卓智能手机等平台体验到全新的冒险模式。届时“探险者协会”的全部四个区会在一个月之内逐周开放（期间月中会暂停一周，以便暴雪娱乐能在感恩节好好享受一顿南瓜派）。玩家可以花费128元购买到全部四个区，单区售价为700游戏内金币或45元人民币。如果玩家先前已购买了某个区，还能以折扣价来买到剩余几个区的合集。
